“I wouldn’t be surprised if [the Tory Toff campaigning] continues at the general election, because there are sufficient Neanderthals at the top of the Labour Party that will insist on this strategy”
- Eric Pickles MP, a quote that becomes more poignant when even the Guardian are proclaiming that Labour have hit rock bottom

I agree that it is likely to be a theme they will follow up with David Cameron largely because he is a toff. It does not raise the level of debate but the Tories have not been afraid to do negative campaigning in the past too.

There’s a part of me that would be surprised if Labour play the Toff card again should they suffer a heavy defeat in Crewe, but there’s another part of me that wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if Labour play the Toff card again.
Personally I’d like to see political battles restricted to political issues - does that make me sound boring?!

I’m shocked! That’s a real insult coming from Eric Pickles.
Neanderthals (as we now know) were far superior to Labour Ministers etc…
