Dear readers,

The analysis in today’s papers is suitably damning of Alistair Darling’s lame budget yesterday.  He reannounced a lot of policies, used the word ’stability’ way too many times in an attempt to convince us he was in control of the situation, and tried to use ‘green’ taxes to raise some extra cash under the thin veil of ’saving the environment’.  So, instead of laying into Darling like everyone else, I suggest you read an excellent article I found on the issue of green taxes, which brilliantly deconstructs the whole issue of environmental taxation and explains why it is complete rubbish.
