Dear Peter Hain,
You must be having a laugh, surely. People occasionally make mistakes, politicians tend to make quite a few, but your apology to weasel out of yet another Labour donation scandal is simply worthless.
I daresay that in the past I have sometimes misjudged how much money I have in my current account. Having said this, I doubt that my calculations have ever been over £20,000 out - which is precisely what you have managed. To then blame this spectacular oversight on an administrative error is just ridiculous. Why on earth didn’t you come clean when Gordon Brown and Harriet Harman were taking the flack, instead of exposing yourself in such a naive manner today when you finally got caught? You have magnified your incompetence 100-fold by taking this course of action and I have no sympathy with you whatsoever.
Yours with considerable contempt,
A.Tory

Fair enough. But Guido has some nonsense. He needs to put the swear blog muppets out of their misery and reveal when and where Hain actually made the remarks about Picture. And in what capacity. And on which occasion. And what the real APR is compared to FirstPlus (which Vorderman promotes and Barclays owns).
And what part of the web site it is quoted on. This is sadly more GuF twaddle.
Hain is boring. Guido is boring. Actually leadership and internal contest type donations are generally pretty boring too. Though Hain is spectacularly chaotic, maverick, untrustworthy.

I will admit to not following everything that Guido has trumpeted, but I wonder whether this incident will just be a flash in the pan or whether Hain has consigned himself to the history books.
After all, Harman and Alexander made much larger errors but kept their jobs so Uncle Gordon will find it hard to push out Hain.
